  • Previous Salon Experience

My favourite hairstyle mainly depends on the fashions trends and personal style of each of my clients. One of my favourite hairstyles right now is the disconnected layers on short hair with geometric sections of color. For long hair my favourite hairstyle is a random layering technique that give long hair a free flowing movement. For this look I love blended highlights that gives the hair a sun kissed look. When it comes to long hair styling, such as wedding and graduation hair. I love the super glamorous sculptured looks from the 40's!
  • Previous Salon Experience

I began my career as a hairstylist in Edmonton ten years ago where I did my apprenticeship at Modigliani in West Edmonton Mall. When I moved to Calgary to continue my Fine Arts degree, I worked at Snipz in Kensington. After completing my BFA I moved to Creative Hair Group on 17th Ave. I then purchased the business from the owner and renamed it Ymay Hair Studio. Ymay is my middle name, which is Dutch and similar to my grandmother's name.
  • Favorite Hair Product

My favourite product is hairspray, one that holds, has shine, and smell like alcohol! Right now I love this vintage hairspray I am trying out which is called Last Word. It is unscented but smells like alcohol when it sprays. For styling products, I love Mesh from I.C.O.N. It's very multipurpose for straightening hair and for naturally curly hair. I could on about the products from I.C.O.N. They are all amazing because they make everyone's hair shiny and healthy.
